The Ford security software update (along with many vans now having higher security driver's door barrels) has meant that thieves are less likely to be able to unlock the load area of the Ford Custom van or Ford Transit van by twisting or attacking the driver's door lock. Yes that's right, no van deadlocks from any manufacturer are Thatcham Accredited or Thatcham Approved since the 1st January 2019 when Thatcham had a major shake up of it's TQA (Thatcham Quality Assurance) and it's TRI (Thatcham Recognised Installer) schemes. There are some van models that have been plagued by a hole though the bodywork style attack on them, in particular the 2014 onwards shape Vauxhall Vivaro, Renault Trafic, Nissan NV300, Fiat Talento and VW T5/ Volkswagen T6. Typically our approach is to recommend a multi-strategy security package and one of those strategies is to secure the manufacturer's weak point on the existing factory fitted security.
