The Sussex Installations FOR-L2 Rep Lock with security bezel is a replacement lock for the driver's door factory fitted lock on the Ford Transit MK8 van. Having this lock fitted will significantly reduce the chance of thieves breaking into your van by gripping your factory fitted lock barrel with a set of grips and twisting the barrel. The reason for this is because the lock face has a tapered edge to make it difficult to grip and the Rep Lock comes complete with a slip ring which will turn independently if gripped without turning the actual lock.
Additionally there are other weak points on the Ford Transits that have been brought to our attention, please feel free to give us a call regarding securing your vehicle.
Please note - There are x2 versions of this REPLOCK for the 2014-Onwards MK8 Transits, Please look at the image above to help us determine which version to send you (further information below). This is only relevant for the L4V brand Replocks (TVLs replocks are cross-compatible).
Does your Transit Mk8 have a factory fitted bezel? If so then you should still change the standard lock for this replacement locks as the bezel on the Ford locks will not protect from a screwdriver in the key hole attack. But if you do have a 2019 onwards Transit that has the silver bezel fitted from the factory, then we need to know that so we can provide you with the correct parts (as the parts change depending if you have the factory bezel or not). Please see the picture graphic above to assist you in answering the question if you have a factory bezel or not.
The key style may vary from the one pictured, so please check with us before ordering if you have specific key requirements.
- TVL type - Is a round key (Either Hykee or Camlock style. Some come with a black rubber top to the key and some without the black rubber key, unfortunately we are unable to guarantee which TVL variant key you will receive due to inconsistencies with this manufacturer).
- L4V type - Is a flat bladed dimple key, the same type that is used with our T Series deadlocks.
To sum up: both keys offer the same level of protection and are a suitable replacement for the manufacturer's lock, but we have added this as a choice for the minority of customers who have a preference to which lock they want so as to avoid disappointment if they receive one that they wasn't expecting.
Has your van been broken into already? if it has, then this typically makes fitting this lock considerably more difficult as we need your factory Ford lock to function in order to remove the lock from the door. If you factory Ford lock is not functioning properly due to a break in or other reasons then we may need to drill out your factory lock in order for us to fit our replacement lock; If this is the case, then the installation if likely to cost an additional £44 inclusive of VAT.
The choice of lock will need to be made at the time of ordering your locks (please note that only the L4V type replock can work from the same key as our T Series deadlocks).
