The problem? A 'Peel and Steal' attack (or door folding / door bending) is where the top half of a door is peeled down and the door is effectively folded in half! This gives thieves access to the tools / cargo that is stored inside the van. Often these attacks are not detected by the van's alarm system as the switch that alerts the van if the door is opened is often fitted low down on the door (the part of the door that remains closed during this type of attack).
Peel and Steal attacks are most commonly done on the side load door of medium sized vans which do not have a high position catch fitted as standard (this catch is usually on the trailing edge of the side load door).
The solution! This bracket set has been designed to give the side load door an additional fixing point high up on the front of the door to help to secure the van against a 'Peel and Steal' type of attack.
We recommend that you also have a high position deadlock fitted to the rear of the door. In Addition we would recommend an alarm system upgrade that includes a PIR sensor and a high position side load door switch. You can find these products in the list below.
