We will disconnect the the manual lock barrel on your rear barn doors (from the internal latch mechanism), this will mean that the manual lock (on your rear barn doors) will no longer unlock or lock your van. This will make it harder for thieves to gain access to the load area of your van to steal your tools/ cargo.

If you have a remote control to lock and unlock your van then you really do not need to use the physical key in the locks of your van, but the lock being there (and connected) is a massive security vulnerability for load area where you keep your tools and cargo!!

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE REMOTE CENTRAL LOCKING WORKING? THEN YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS DONE! as it will then be a big inconvenience to you, but most van owners just use their remote control to lock and unlock their vans and never use the manual locks.

This modification is only available for customers who have work carried out by Sussex Installations and is not something that is available for parts only customers. We do not provide information on how you can carry this modification out yourself or support any 3rd party to carry it out.

We also suggest that you have our replacement (metal) brake light in addition to this modification, along with our T Series deadlocks.

What if my remote control fails? how will I be able to get into the back of my van? Many new van models no longer have a manual lock on the load area of their vans, as remote central locking has become so reliable now. There are some scenarios to think about here and decide what is most important to you;
A) Security of your load area? or
B) Manual back up lock that you might want to use one day in the future?

The most likely problem no having a manual back up lock would be if you damage your remote control, if this is the case you can still use the button inside the cab to unlock the rear of your van (once you have turned the ignition on to wake it up from security mode) and you could do that until you got to your spare remote or got your damaged remote control fixed/ replaced if that happened to you.
