This is a useful universal repair shield product that is aimed at covering up a hole in your van bodywork, please see the pictures above for full size details.
This Stainless Steel Shield comes complete with gasket, internal washer and 1 x nut.
We are seeing more and more attacks on vans where thieves put a hole in the bodywork to attempt to break into a van to steal tools or contents. For the most popular attacks on specific van models we may have a shield set or other products made specifically to cover the exact spot of your van where the hole has been made, but if you have had an unusual attack or simply no specific repair product has yet been made then we have some universal repair products too; which might get you out of trouble?
Why put a stainless repair plate over a hole in the bodywork attack? A hole in your bodywork can be a massive vulnerability, sometimes giving thieves direct access to a backdoor bypass method of your van's factory locking system.
A hole in your door (following an attack) can be;
- An irresistible invitation for anyone to try and break into your van
- It doesn't look good
- There can be sharp edges from the cut metal that are dangerous
- The bare metal will start to rust and pour down your door overtime
Options for a repair can be to take your van to the body shop (although this can often run into hundreds of pounds and/ or loosing your no claims bonus) or perhaps a lower cost alternative could be to fit a repair shield such as this one or one of our vehicle specific ones?
You can also look through the website selecting your van make, model and year variant to see if we have a specific repair solution for the attack that has happened on your van or contact us using the 'Ask a question' form and send us some pictures of the hole on your van (ideally one picture close up to the damage with a ruler in the picture to show the size of the hole and one picture standing 3 metres away for reference so we can see where the hole is on your van).
Make sure that someone competent caries out the repair, someone who can tell if the plate is going to be suitable before drilling any holes into your van. We would suggest using a rust protection solution over any bare metal of your van (a manufacturers approved solution or Waxoil at the very least), use an automotive sealant to water seal the shield and make sure that all metal debris are cleaned from your paint surface.

If you want us to fit this for you then please, you send us pictures of the hole in your van and we will be able to give you an idea of the cost for us to carry out the repair.
