Intro and damage inspection
0:00 -Hi, I'm Jeff from Sussex Installations.
0:02 -Look at the state of this van.
0:02 -This is a brand new shape for custom van and it's been attacked by thieves.
0:02 -Holes.
0:02 -One, two, three, four holes.
0:10 -Like thieves have been going at this van making holes all over the place to try and break into it.
0:20 -£5,000 to repair damage like this.
0:20 -This is what we had our customer come in on Saturday.
0:20 -He come in with a similar situation to this one and he was quoted five grand for a repair from Ford and he had to put his name down on a waiting list um to get a door.
0:28 -Please give us a like for the video and don't forget to subscribe to our channel.
0:37 -That way we can keep you up to date with the latest in van security as things change.
0:37 -So this is a big mess, but there is some good news.
0:43 -Two lots of good news.
0:43 -First lot of good news is they didn't get in the van.
Thieves didn't get into the van
0:51 -So, the thieves were here drilling holes in the side of this door.
0:57 -They got to the point where they attacked the actual latch inside the door, which got the door to like open in terms of like how a door would normally open.
1:04 -But this customer did have his deadlock on.
1:04 -So, he was a yeah conscientious owner.
1:04 -He had a deadlock on and the fees broke in for the door.
1:14 -And if I just try and simulate that, won't show you what I'm doing here, but right try and open that now.
1:14 -So, there we go.
1:14 -That's what happened.
How the deadlock stopped the thieves from getting in
1:21 -The alarm went off.
1:21 -The reason the alarm went off is because the door had opened that little bit, but the deadlock stopped the door from opening anymore.
1:30 -So, at that point with the noise going, these thieves did run away.
1:37 -So, that's great news, right?
1:37 -Going to turn the alarm off and stop that from going on.
1:37 -So, good news number one.
1:37 -The customer's tools were safe.
1:44 -Uh the customer did not lose his tools.
1:44 -These thieves were stopped by the deadlock holding the door in the closed position.
1:52 -And the alarm, the factory fitted Ford alarm going off was enough to deter these thieves till they run off.
1:52 -So, this is the type of thing that does happen a lot.
1:52 -Of course, we do see some thieves like one of my previous videos recently where they're just going to stop at nothing and they keep going, wreck the whole van until they do get in.
2:01 -But these thieves were stopped by the deadlock.
2:09 -So, that's great news.
2:09 -Um, the customer is left in a situation now where he's got a big hole in his door.
2:15 -It looks like a mess.
2:15 -Must say, a big hole in his door.
2:15 -He's got several holes in his door that looks like a mess.
2:15 -But the second lot of good news is we've got a repair shield for this and we're going to cover the damage up for this customer.
Good news is we have a repair shield for the damage on the door
2:23 -Get him back on the road like it was brand new.
2:30 -Our customer come in on Saturday.
2:30 -He come in with a similar situation to this one and he was quoted five grand for a repair from Ford and he had to put his name down on a waiting list um to get a door.
2:39 -Five grand to get the van back on the road after thieves attacking it, and perhaps having to be in a rental van for weeks or even months before getting it.
2:47 -But this customer uh knew exactly what to do.
2:47 -He said he had the damage done.
2:57 -He put the picture of the damage on a work WhatsApp group, and one of his colleagues said, "Just go to Sussex Installations and we're going to fix it for him."
2:57 -So, he's come down here.
3:04 -We've got our shield, our repair shield that goes on the side load door of this van, which look really, really nice.
3:04 -We stock these in brush stainless steel and in matte black.
We show our external shield in different colour options
3:12 -And we've also introduced our color coding scheme.
3:12 -We're not doing all make model vans with a color scheme just yet.
3:12 -At the moment, we're just actually doing for this brand new Ford custom the side load door shielding for this Ford custom is the ones that we're doing at the moment.
3:27 -It won't be a completely identical match, but it'll be really, really close.
3:27 -Basically, it's going to be like a brand new van.
3:27 -It's going to be like the five grand um fee that Ford are going to do to fix his van, but without it costing five grand with it costing like less than 200 quid.
3:41 -So, I think at the same time, this customer is going to have our internal shield fitted.
3:41 -So, the Ford internal shield, which a bit of it is poking out the side of that hole there, is actually pretty flimsy.
The customer will also have our internal shield
3:50 -Our internal shield, it's an absolute weapon.
3:58 -You can ask Robin Tea Leaf about how much of a weapon it is cuz that guy still got sore head after our attack test where we bashed his head in with one.
4:06 -Stay tuned.
4:06 -We are going to get this van fixed up and ready to roll.
4:11 -It'll be brand new without the five grand price tag pretty soon.
4:11 -Charlotte cruising on by.
4:11 -What you doing, Charlotte?
Team banter! Will Charlotte make the tea?
4:19 -What you doing, Charlotte?
4:22 -To lunch.
4:22 -Did you go to lunch in your new car?
4:22 -Yeah, she did.
4:22 -Oh, that's wonderful.
4:29 -I think we should celebrate with a nice cup of tea.
4:29 -Say she loves it.
4:29 -Probably not.
4:29 -She think she loves it.
4:29 -She does love it, don't she, Danny?
4:38 -I'm not sure about that.
4:44 -We'll go and see her.
4:44 -We'll follow up on this.
4:44 -Danny's going to get started here anyway with the with the job.
4:44 -And so I told Danny, I said this van's going to be brand new in like an hour's time.
4:52 -Is that right?
4:52 -An hour and a half.
4:52 -Just because it has ply lining.
4:52 -Hour and a half.
4:59 -Got ply lining.
4:59 -What?
4:59 -What are you making the tea or something in the hour and a half, Danny?
4:59 -You said you're going to get that.
5:08 -Right.
5:08 -Let's get cracking.
5:08 -Let's get this job done.
5:08 -Oh, look.
5:08 -Oh, look at this, Charlotte.
5:08 -How wonderful.
5:08 -Did you even get that milk?
5:17 -Did you get the milk?
5:17 -Gavin got the milk.
5:17 -Gavin got the milk.
5:17 -Teamwork.
5:17 -Team work.
5:17 -Teamwork makes the dream work.
5:24 -Gavin got the milk.
5:24 -Charlotte's making the tea.
5:24 -Danny's doing the job.
5:24 -I'm doing the video.
5:31 -Fair.
5:31 -Fair enough, isn't it?
5:34 -Here we go.
5:34 -Is that half an hour ply lining job that Danny was talking [Music] about?
5:42 -Half an hour, daddy, for the ply lining.
5:42 -Look, you got it off already.
5:42 -I tried.
5:53 -The tea has been delivered already as well.
5:53 -Pop that over there, Charlotte.
5:56 -You're You're She's an angel.
5:56 -Have I ever told you that you're an angel?
5:56 -Once or twice.
5:56 -At least.
6:05 -Look at it.
6:05 -Look how many holes they made in this thing.
6:05 -It was like a target practice thing.
6:12 -I think it was a treasure hunt.
6:12 -It literally was a treasure hunt, wasn't it?
6:12 -Oh, look.
6:12 -I missed you.
6:12 -There we go.
6:17 -I've got you.
6:17 -It literally was a treasure hunt.
6:17 -And unfortunately, no matter how many of these doors that they open, they come up short, which is great news.
Marking up the shield position and drilling the holes
6:33 -[Music] [Music] [Music] The shields come with really detailed fitting instructions.
Jeff gives a full walk through of how to fit the shield to your van
6:55 -We tell them to put the masking tape on the door.
6:55 -Use the gasket to mark it up.
6:55 -We've got a very specific measurement as where that gasket needs to go on the door and then use the gasket as a template.
7:03 -Draw out all the holes on the gasket.
7:11 -Drill it out with a pilot drill bit first like 3.5 millimeter and then open up the um holes usually around about 7.5 mm when the shield does M5 does like what this one does.
7:18 -Danny's just then gone through with a cone cutter just to like debur uh all of the holes, debur the edges.
7:26 -And now at this point we do a test fit.
Test fit - make sure your holes are in the right place
7:33 -So before you go to the point of like cleaning everything up, taking off the masking tape, does the shield actually fit on the van?
7:43 -This shield is actually very similar looking one way up to the other way up in it, Danny.
7:43 -So if you put the gasket, if you lay the gasket on top of the actual um stud positions, we have a triangle in the gasket which marks up so you can tell which way it is.
7:58 -The triangle is up on our gaskets.
7:58 -So did that fit all right, Danny?
7:58 -It just it wasn't sitting quite flush on the surface, was it?
The shield wasn't sitting flush due to the damage made by thieves
8:06 -Because of all the bumps.
8:06 -Yeah, we have to.
8:06 -So, with this shield wasn't quite sit Well, definitely it wasn't quite sitting flush.
8:06 -Wasn't sitting flush because of all these bumps.
8:14 -So, what we need to do is we need to do some work on this on this body here.
8:14 -We need to get rid of these bumps.
8:21 -Our shield is going to cover this whole area here.
8:21 -So, there's really sort of no need for them bumps to sort of be there at all.
8:28 -What we will do is we will cut these out.
8:28 -And because that latch is there behind and there's cables in the door, move the latch away from the hole and they can go for the saw and cut it.
8:37 -Cut the holes.
8:37 -We're going to want to take that latch out anyway.
8:46 -Chuck away that forward shield that was on there.
8:46 -Bin that.
8:46 -Put our internal shield on there as well.
8:46 -Before we move this latch out of position, we just cut a cable tie that's hole in one of the cables inside the door.
Need to remove the latch from inside the door
9:03 -Can't really see it from here.
9:03 -So that cable tie, he's dropped that out the way that was holding those that cable in to the body work.
9:11 -Now we release the latch by undoing the three uh T30 Torx bolts, Torx screws from the outside of the van.
9:23 -And the latch is basically that part like the central locking part which is within the door be able to go inside and just move that out the way the rest of the way over.
9:38 -Yeah.
9:38 -So, just park it up there for the minute, making sure it's not anywhere like as you open up the side load door where you're going to drag it along the outside body work of your van.
Cutting the damage out of the door before fitting the shield
10:13 -[Music] [Music] So, look, we don't need to cut like the whole bit of metal out.
10:13 -We're just cutting out the raised bit.
10:13 -There's a small like inward dented bit there, which we don't actually need to cut that bit out um because it's not going to affect the way our shield is going to sit on the surface.
10:20 -If there was like inward dents around about this position here, then we would want to cut them bits out because our internal shield is going to use up pretty much all the room that's inside that door.
Making sure we cut enough damage away to fit our internal shield
10:38 -It comes like right out to the to the bodywork almost like because it's like 6 mm thick in the most vulnerable places.
10:45 -With this internal shield, I laid it up.
10:45 -It's the thickest shield I ever designed.
10:45 -And in this like part where someone where a thief might drill is actually 6 mm thick.
10:54 -So, we're using all the space that's in that door to make as secure a shield as we can possibly make.
11:02 -Basically, right, clean down.
11:02 -This is a really important part of the process where you've been drilling and cutting basically like little shards, little debris of metal like all over the place cuz they're all down the side of your van if you're not careful.
The clean down and why it's so important to prevent rust on your van after the deadlock fitting
11:19 -And what that would mean is nothing really like the problem was in today, but over the coming weeks, all the metal debris that's sat on the van, if you don't clear it away, it will start to rust.
11:29 -And then as it's just starting to rust, you could probably still at that point jet wash it off.
11:36 -But at some point, like 6 months down the line, if you've got um basically rust sitting on top of your panel, it's probably after 6 months going to be eating into your paintwork.
11:45 -So you don't want that.
11:45 -And at that point, if it's eating into your paintwork, then the paintwork's wrecked and then the actual metal of your van will start rusting out from the inside.
11:53 -So, the clean down is so so important.
11:56 -And we clean down all this area where we're working here, but we do clean down all down like the side of the van.
11:56 -So, if like the doors been in the open position where we've been cutting, there could be metal like debris all around the back here, we clear all that down, too.
12:04 -So, we would use like compressed air.
12:13 -Sometimes we also use a brush, but you if you don't have compressed air, you could use like a brush like a paint brush or like a big paint brush or like a dust pan and brush type of brush, but you have to be really careful with your body work of your van.
12:28 -Like you can put very fine like micro scratches into the bodywork using any kind of brush.
12:33 -Once the actual job's done, you could jet wash the outside of your van, but you're not looking to jet wash where you've actually fitted the shield.
12:33 -And you definitely want all of the debris uh removed from the immediate area where the shield is fitted.
12:42 -You will need to apply some um rust protection to the actual bare metal, the holes where you've been cutting and drilling.
Need to add rust protection to the cut metal of your van
12:50 -Wax oil is a really good um solution for that.
12:50 -It offers great rust prevention uh properties and it just basically yeah is it's it's easy to work with, easy to use and as you're fitting the shield it's not like you're going to scratch a bit of paint and knock it off while you're fitting the shield into the van and leave a bit vulnerable.
13:05 -Basically the wax all Yeah, it's it's very good.
Sticking the gasket to the shield
13:13 -So now Danny's fixing the gasket to the shield.
13:13 -That was the same gasket we used as a template um for where to make the holes earlier on in the video.
13:24 -Well, then it looks better.
What nuts to fit 1st when fitting your shield to your van
13:26 -Yeah.
13:26 -When we're putting the shield on, what we find is the easiest place to start is by putting a couple of nuts on the outer edge of the door cuz it's right here.
13:36 -As soon as you've got like at least two on there, the shield's not going to fall off and like potentially scratch down the side of your van as it's falling off.
13:43 -So, once we've got the ones on the edge, that's going to hold it in place and then he'll be able to move to the inside of the van.
13:54 -So, look, we just um taken off this factory shield off of the latch.
13:54 -Um Danny's just unbolted it from the latch.
We look at the factory fitted Ford shield and the damage to the latch caused by the thieves
14:02 -And now we got to undo the electrical connector on the back of it.
14:08 -And now we can take that we can take that forward um shield and we can chuck it.
14:08 -Well, look at the state of this latch.
14:08 -They really smashed it apart.
14:20 -So, I think what we'll do before we sort of go any further, I think we're going to like really that latch looks to me like it wants changing.
14:29 -And if it's still working today, that's actually like quite like I'm gobsmacked.
14:35 -Like quite surprising really.
14:35 -But the chances are that it's probably going to fail, it sooner or later.
14:35 -Whether that's today, tomorrow, a month, you know, or sometime when the guys are working.
14:44 -I mean, we actually keep these in stock.
14:44 -We've got 10 of them in stock, I think, of these shields because I know they were difficult to get hold of and we just thought we're going to have them in stock as a bit of a service for our customers and just to help them out.
14:53 -So, I feel like it would be easy for us to just put a new one on right now and then to just pay the cost rather than them being stuck at a later date with this van not working with us in London or something and they're going to they're going to have probably a nightmare trying to get this latch changed by someone else.
15:08 -It could be a big hassle for them.
15:08 -So, I know what we need to do with this factory forge shield now, which is chuck it in the bin.
15:20 -I'm only joking.
15:20 -I'm Can hear daddy over there.
15:20 -I'm actually not going to chuck it in the bin because it's recycling.
15:27 -What I'm really going to do is put it in the recycling.
15:27 -Look, we got quite a collection quite a collection of Ford chills there in the in the in the recycling.
15:34 -We got box full of them actually.
15:47 -So, not only are we doing our bit to keep the tradesmen of this country in business with good quality repair solutions, good quality security latch solutions.
15:55 -We're also doing our bit to save the planet with the recycling as well down here, aren't we?
Tell Charlotte that the latch is F*cked! and talk about YouTube comments from previous videos
16:06 -Let's go and see Charlotte again.
16:06 -She's probably missing me.
16:06 -Still drinking my tea.
16:13 -Daddy laughing there.
16:13 -Hey Dan, how's it going?
16:22 -How are you?
16:22 -Good.
16:22 -Charlotte going to tell her the news.
16:29 -The latch on this van is so say but that's a bit of a rude word to say.
16:29 -Yeah, you're going to bleep something out.
16:35 -I could bleep the latch's butt beep out, but I did get a complaint on the comments of my last video by someone who said I should not bleep it out.
16:44 -How dare I How dare I go making bleeping noises?
16:49 -And he's mark my video down for the bleeping noises.
16:49 -Thank you very much, sir.
16:49 -I now know that I can potentially upset people by putting on a bleep noise with my surprises me you with my with my 16 hours I spent respond responding to comments on that last video 16 hours of my week it was to read comments like I've marked your video down because you made a beep the fun of it eh it's the joys of people and they're allowed to say and however it makes them feel and I had another one he said that I was talking my monotone own boring talking and I talk too much.
17:27 -Yeah, you do do that sort of Charlotte did agreement with him, but I responded to him too.
17:27 -See, he's been very much more nonmonetary this time.
17:37 -Woohoo.
17:37 -I've responded to him with great enthusiasm.
17:37 -Enthusiasm.
17:37 -And I informed him that I'm pretty much going to talk in the next video as well.
17:45 -So, if you don't want me talking, better skip.
17:52 -Go to another channel.
17:52 -Oh yeah.
17:52 -What was the point I come in for?
17:52 -The latch is knackered.
17:52 -The latch is without the beep.
17:52 -No, it's working.
17:52 -Actually, the latch is working.
We think that the customer might be better off having a new latch as his is clearly damaged
18:00 -I don't know how it's working, but it's working.
18:00 -But it's like barely any of it left.
18:00 -It's smashed to pieces inside.
18:00 -And I just feel like this guy that elaborates a little bit more, but surely the door is opening and closing.
18:08 -Well, it was and it might still, but just feel like this guy's going to be stuck somewhere.
18:08 -He's going to he's waiting for it to just break down.
18:15 -Yeah.
18:15 -Whether it's here, or whether it's today, or whether it's in the middle of London next week.
18:15 -He's going to be starting a door that won't close and he's going to be probably going to start with a dealer that can't find a latch for him that's going to wait months for a latch.
18:30 -Order some in.
18:30 -Yeah, we got 10 of them sat there just ready.
18:30 -We got 10.
18:30 -Oh yeah, we're probably not telling everybody there's 10.
18:37 -It's definitely not 10.
18:37 -I've just been in the recycling box and it's full of the Ford latch shield.
18:37 -So I guess we've been changing many.
18:45 -Yes, we have.
18:45 -Yeah.
18:45 -So I don't want to speak to him.
18:45 -Just say, "Hey, does he want a new latch while we're here?"
18:45 -Just because it's probably better than not having one and breaking down.
18:45 -Absolutely.
18:53 -We're already saving him like five grand.
18:53 -Five grand on the new door.
18:53 -£4,800 or whatever it is on the on the on the new door.
19:02 -So, yeah, you might as well have a latch.
19:02 -And I guess that five grand would be plus the latch anyway, right?
19:08 -Probably the latch.
19:08 -You'd have to buy the latch on top of the five grand door cuz the door will come bare.
19:15 -How's it going in here, Danny?
19:20 -In the last one of them.
19:20 -So, you're doing the doing the bolts up.
19:20 -Are you doing them up um tight or doing them up loose at the moment?
We do the nuts up loose to start with
19:28 -Loose.
19:28 -Low.
19:28 -Loose.
19:28 -Right.
19:28 -At this stage, we would have been outside the van, done the bolts up loose on the outside.
19:28 -Now, inside the van, doing the bolts up loose on the inside.
19:40 -And the reason for this is what we kind of like Tom we finished the job.
19:40 -We like the shield to be straight on the van rather than wonking on the piss.
19:56 -And you might think, "Oh, I can't be bothered."
19:56 -But actually that's why we check it in between.
19:56 -That's why it's on the instructions.
20:06 -If we get the door, if we get the bolts so they're not quite fully tight, they're just like they're still a little bit loose, then we can come out here.
20:13 -We've done a test fit, so we know that the shield has the ability to go straight and in the right place on the door.
20:13 -And now we can come back and we can actually straighten it up nicely.
20:22 -And then we'll do the actual fix.
20:22 -There's a lot that goes into it really.
20:22 -There's a lot that goes into it to fit it well and to do the job well.
We make sure the shield is straight before we do the final tightening
20:30 -I'm saying that because I'm sure someone's on there saying only take five minutes to fit these, but to fit it well.
20:30 -Might not take an hour and a half.
20:41 -Even if Danny has Even if Danny is having to take off the ply lining.
20:41 -The suspense is killing me.
20:49 -Danny, are we going to get this straight?
20:53 -He's straight.
20:53 -He's straight already.
20:53 -See, he does things.
20:53 -You don't even see him.
20:53 -He's flying.
20:53 -Is that That's why we've moved to the clean.
20:53 -Is it that because you've already done the straight in it?
21:01 -Yeah, it's all done.
21:01 -I'm going to have to check it because I could be the most annoying person in the world.
21:01 -Don't even need to look sometimes, especially now with the glasses.
21:09 -The eyes are getting so good.
21:09 -You have to feel run the finger down it and just feel.
Jeff's magic finger checks to see if the shield is flush with the edge
21:16 -Does it feel good?
21:16 -Oh, it feels nearly there, you know, but I just feel like that bottom edge could go over just a tiny tiny bit.
21:28 -There we go.
21:28 -Going to get the magic finger out again.
21:33 -Test it one more time.
21:33 -Is it nice and flush with the edge?
21:33 -Oh, now that is Yeah, that's it.
21:33 -Right, that's the one.
21:41 -Now the feel now because you put your finger there.
21:41 -Now I feel that.
21:41 -Now the magic finger is happy.
21:41 -The magic finger says yes.
21:49 -See this?
21:49 -This is how annoying I can be in the in the drive for excellence.
21:56 -I would like every shield to be flush with the edge.
21:56 -Not like 5 million or 6 million.
22:03 -Ideally, I want them to all be flush with the edge.
22:03 -That that's the way I design them, unless there's a reason to have it not be flush with the edge, but pretty much you're going to find it will go flush with the edge if you fit it to my instructions.
Why thread lock is so important to stop bolts becoming loose over time
22:16 -Another bit of magic.
22:16 -It's well it say Loctite medium strength Loctite branded the number 243 or something similar.
22:27 -This one is the sterling lock and seal.
22:29 -It's a medium strength loctite.
22:29 -It's not a super glue.
22:29 -The L the bolts not going to be stuck in the door but it's basically like tanning in like a standard nut like into a nyllock nut.
22:37 -So it's not going to wobble out with the vibrations while the while the van's driving along the road.
22:45 -And basically, if you fit bolts on doors like without that, they're probably going to fall out after like 6 months.
We test if the van latch still opens and closes and locks and and unlocks after the break in damage
22:53 -Let's see.
22:53 -It is shutting.
22:53 -This handle's working.
22:53 -Looks like Danny's going for the internal handle.
23:00 -Are you taking the central off?
23:00 -Mhm.
23:00 -Now, because you mentioned Now I mentioned it, he's going to go for the internal handle.
23:00 -Good.
23:08 -Although it kind of like works or like apparently works, you should lock and unlock it because that is often the time when it becomes apparent if something's going to stop working.
23:22 -The lock.
23:22 -It's locked.
23:22 -Unlock.
23:22 -Unlock is unlocked.
23:22 -We do it again with the deadlock now.
23:22 -Lock.
23:22 -One press.
23:22 -Deadlock.
23:22 -Second press.
23:30 -And you hear the extra noise.
23:30 -Lock.
23:30 -We pull the handle at this point when it's locked cuz that can be something that can bring on a problem.
23:39 -Unlock and open.
23:39 -So, I don't know.
23:39 -The latch is working.
23:39 -Probably half of the people watching this video would be divided.
Would you buy a new latch to prevent a possible future problem just incase
23:47 -Like, if I was to say, "We've got a brand new Ford latch."
23:47 -That latch is clearly damaged.
23:47 -We've got a brand new Ford latch here in stock.
23:55 -Would you pay to have the part while you had the opportunity with we're going to fill it?
23:55 -I mean, if we were doing it back then, we probably would have fitted it over for nothing or for an extra 40 quid on the job or something like that labor and just not made any money out the part.
24:04 -Just sort of done it as a favor.
24:04 -Um, or get in a position where your van latch might fail a day, a week, a month, a year later, and you're just having that inconvenience of having a van that doesn't work.
24:21 -Try and get it into a dealer.
24:21 -Try and get them to order the part in.
24:21 -Is the part in stock?
24:21 -And then what do they actually charge doing the job?
24:21 -Does it end up being like a £500 job or a,000 job and all the hassle that goes with it?
24:28 -But we'll see.
24:28 -Anyway, this is back together for now.
24:36 -This van is working.
24:36 -It's now brand new.
We show a brand new Ford latch and cables
24:47 -There is a brand new latch with all the cables.
24:47 -And it also comes with another Ford security shield.
24:53 -Can anybody guess what's going to happen to the factory Ford security shield?
25:01 -Yes, you are right.
25:01 -It's going in my collection with the rest of them in that bin in there for recycling.
25:09 -Look, you can change all the you can change all the cables in the door, but the reality is there's nothing wrong with all the cables in this door.
25:15 -It's um 2024 van.
25:15 -But um if you are going to separate the cables from the latch and change it that way, you do have to be careful when you take these um clips off cuz you could end up breaking it.
25:22 -If you're not sure, you might be better off just changing all the cables and this whole thing in the door if you're doing this job yourself.
25:31 -But it is possible to carefully lever off these clips if you know how.
25:40 -Danny was so quick I didn't get to film it.
25:40 -So customers decided, yeah, he's he's with us on that one.
Customer decides he would prefer to have a new Ford Latch fitted to replace the one damaged in the attack
25:48 -He thinks that probably better not to be in a situation with this latch in the door where it's going to stop working one day when he just needs the van to work.
25:57 -The problem with that would be is either the van won't open anymore if it stops working or the van does open but you can't actually close the door.
26:04 -And if you can't close the door properly, you're probably not able to set the alarm and you're probably not able to lock any of the van up.
26:13 -If the latch fails.
26:13 -So, it's probably best that he does have that this latch [Music] changed.
26:27 -So, Danny's just spraying the wax oil on the studs inside the door on all the any of the area that's inside the door what might be scratched or any kind of bare metal anywhere.
26:35 -Just cover it in wax oil just so the rust is not going to start from the inside of the door either.
26:51 -Replacing the cable tie cover going on.
26:51 -Then I guess the ply liners go on and jobs are gooden.
We recap on what we have and saved the customer nearly £5000 on the repair
27:02 -So, this van was a wreck just hour and a half ago in a situation that another one of our customers told us would cost five grand um and be waiting many months to get it fixed by Ford up and running.
27:10 -We did also change the latch for this customer as well.
27:18 -Given the option because the latch was clearly absolutely annihilated and just felt like it's going to break down on them pretty soon.
27:26 -So, they did decide to have that done and we just charged them cost price plus a small labor fee for changing that latch.
27:26 -While we were at it, we also figured out our internal shield, which is an absolute weapon, which means we take the Ford factory internal shield, chuck it away in the bin, but not the bin, in the recycling, and we put our weapon of an internal shield on there instead of that one, which is 6 mm thick in the most vulnerable place, like behind here with this shield on the outside.
27:52 -Like, that's Yeah.
27:52 -7 and a half millimeters of stainless steel in between the thief getting at this latch.
27:58 -Again, it's got one of our colorcoded shields which looks very good on the door.
27:58 -So, it is in the magnetic color of the van.
28:05 -It might not be an absolute perfect variant.
28:05 -We just paint to the actual most popular color that the van was painted in.
28:14 -But it does look very good.
28:14 -Stands out a lot less than a matte black shield or a brush stainless steel shield.
28:14 -If you got one of these new shape for custom vans, what I would suggest in terms of the settings on the main screen, go settings, go vehicle, go locks, and see where it says key free.
Jeff suggests settings to make your van more secure by turning off key free in the Ford Menu to stop the van unlocking by touching the door handles
28:31 -I would turn that off.
28:31 -And that's a more secure mode in terms of your locking.
28:38 -So, what that means is these like buttons here for unlocking the van.
28:43 -It's not going to unlock your van by someone touching their finger against the van if in case your key is in range or if they're using like a relay attack.
28:49 -So, it's more secure from that point of view.
28:49 -The other thing is when you lock the van, lock the but press the lock button twice.
28:49 -If I press the lock button once and then I grab hold this handle on the inside, the door will still open.
How to double lock your van to activate your factory deadlocking and explains what factory deadlocking is
29:03 -If you press the lock button twice, I'm pulling that handle now.
29:03 -Pull, pull, pull.
29:11 -It just won't open.
29:11 -So, it just means that all the cables that running through your door, they're not a security vulnerability for a thief to exploit.
29:11 -The only part that the thief can exploit is right at the back of the door on the latch as long as you remember to press the lock button twice.
29:18 -So, hope you found this video interesting.
