0:50 -first guest on the show is Scott Harris of fa installations if I just invited one Scott please come and join
0:57 -me thanks for coming on Scott on so when did you become a member of IIT staff um back in the early days 2004
1:06 -which was before my time with with IIT stuff yeah how did you find about out about the site I was at the time a chameleon franchise and my auditor was
1:15 -James um Forks Reed who recommended me to the site okay and uh back back in the early days I signed up and uh been there
1:23 -ever since and you haven't look back no so face installations is your company when did you start that again started uh in August
1:32 -2004 um previously I worked verone for 10 years but in a sales environment part of my sales role was to sell car KS okay
1:41 -and uh fortunately I I got made redundant and it seemed like a logical step at the time to to move over into actually installing them as well as
1:49 -selling them now one nice little tip which I picked up from you um last year was um the the ability to process the credit card payments on the roadside
1:57 -without a big expensive machine uh Le still through um through an iPhone is that right yeah I mean we realized a long time ago that taking credit card
2:05 -payment would be an advantage not only to us in terms of um increasing the cash flow into the business and getting
2:12 -payment quicker but it also represented uh an add- on to the customer because it meant more ways for the customer to pay
2:19 -um and yeah the app that we run it's the dedicated iPhone app is called mobile POS but it's actually run via atlante
2:27 -and it's available on lots of different platform so you can you can use it on a laptop use laptop in the van you can use it on a Java enabled phone um but if you
2:37 -are an iPhone user there is a dedicated app for um what about IIT stuff Scott so you've been with us if you started 2004
2:45 -I probably get the maths wrong around about 7 years so from start till now yeah what would you get out of the site obviously that you know the information
2:52 -on the site is is second to Norm um you know it's a great Community Spirit there you know we've made lots of as well as
3:00 -3 minutesbusiness associates we've made L of friends through the site things like this getting together are always nice you know it can be a lonely existence
3:07 -being a mobile installer out on your own there's no work nights is there so you know it's nice to to catch up these kind of events obviously the sight's changed
3:16 -a lot over the years and um but it's growing and and and getting and bigger and better you know as far as I can see
3:24 -it's glad to glad to hear you say that Scott thanks very much for taking a few minutes to talk with us here at iFit stuff and uh look forward to later on
3:31 -this evening having a couple of drinks and enjoying the rest of the evening Lely thank you Jeff thank you very
3:37 -[Music]
3:44 -much okay so our next guest is the founder of IIT stuff uh he's been in the wilderness for the last couple years and we haven't seen much of him some say he
3:53 -used to test a mobile phone's durability by submersing in a pint of beer and that he spent the last 2 years as a Tibetan monk all we know is he's called the wig
4:02 -Andy would you come on the show great to see you good man thanks for coming on the show no choice really no it's IIT
4:10 -stuff show you got to come on board all the owners got to appear and and say a few words so Andy IIT stuff what a what an amazing thing as it is today tell us
4:18 -mate where did it come from 2004 was the creation date was it yeah about January sometime I've basically been
4:25 -self-employed for a couple of months been do the tra and 201 17 I realized that no one shares information you can
4:33 -be out on your own come to a new car where's the radio how it for M where's the m so you ring your mate then answer you ring another mate then answer ring
4:42 -somebody else you're wasting time um I've been involved in forums before that for a couple of years I used to be a technical moderator on um for one day I
4:50 -got all us do the alarms for and questions and I thought I want my own Forum really I want to see if I can make it work so built it and um invited about
4:59 -I think I invited about 30 people my old mail list from Vanguard I it work for them sent it out and then just started
5:08 -to populate the first few coup months 100 200 members and um that's where we started really it's
5:15 -been never look back on it really now I know you don't like to talk about things openly and and and out in front of people and um but there's a a subject
5:24 -which I've got to mention I know you don't want to talk about it but I would be silly not to bring it up which um basically over the Christmas period of
5:31 -2006 at the beginning of 2007 um the two of your moderators that were on the site they did actually start a new site a
5:38 -fresh new site that turned up which which looked exactly like IIT stuff all the categories except for for a couple were exactly the same and and in fact
5:47 -the content from iFit stuff the technical content was copied and pasted into post there to to populate their vehicle database I mean what what did
5:54 -you feel when you when you saw that when when you found out how did you find out I found out just randomly I think I think Danny just rangle or James Raiden
6:03 -mentioned it um I just I couldn't believe it I mean it probably was coming because I was stepping back from The Forum uh people weren't getting
6:12 -administered they weren't getting status immediately I wasn't really logging on um so I do take some responsibility for
6:20 -letting this s a bit but you know it's it's it's a shame it happened really you know I used to think a lot of the two guys but they decided to if you're going
6:30 -to start a forum do it off your own back off your own content require your own memberships and get they basically play your all stuff they took the best
6:38 -content copied it and pasted it and then said hello we're here that's not yeah you do things of business you know so add we've had a lot of changes over this
6:46 -Christmas I mean it's a long time coming they needed to be more structured in terms of um of of what everyone's duties were on the Forum and we needed more
6:54 -people to come in and and help because um the site is massive now and and it and it takes a lot more looking after um can you tell us a bit about the the new moderators that come on
7:02 -board well these are guys that are they s of yeah these are the guys that would you know they live and Di here they they
7:09 -exhibit signs the qualities that a moderator needs to be they're impartial they're very very loyal sometimes too
7:17 -loyal they could leg if they could they're they're good bles they're well well connected personal ball fantastic
7:25 -shs to kind of like just like them and I'm sure you could yourself and there was also another problem basically the the person perhaps that posted most
7:32 -technical information would um be the source of technical inquiries from every member on IIT stuff at times and in
7:39 -particular Danny Barker yeah which we we'll try to get Danny on here but if we can't the trouble
7:47 -is sometimes you can be a victim of your own success is when it's when a question gets answered quickly
7:54 -correctly often you then become indispensable you know I can answer somebody ask me where's you know where's
8:01 -the live on 9M sure it's green to BL but I might have to ring D find so people tend to
8:09 -realize that the information is coming second hand anyway from somebody else I might log on with Danny and people I see B and they know the information like
8:17 -that so they Unfortunately they have a hotline developed I through no promotion of Their Own It just develops into a hotline which and I'd like to see them
8:25 -go go head to-head in in some sort of ultimate Guru twiz Master M challenge which would be fantastic special
8:32 -subjects have to mark good guys so the new um the result of it is the new category the IIT stuff Guru yeah which
8:39 -uh basically the guru so if they log on they've got a specialist subject so if anyone's looking for perhaps alarm or mobilizer information they perhaps phone
8:47 -Ian Muse which is the first um iFit stuff Guru we will speak to whether it's um D from noo giving um lead and noo
8:57 -support whether it's Stuart Jackson from parrett or where for it's um sh Bruce from noia sorry I'm switching from one thing to another here but Andy thank you very
9:06 -much for coming on the show bu thank
9:17 -you okay our next guest on the show is I mused I's been a longtime member of IIT stuff and he's an absolute Legend Ian would you come on and join
9:26 -me well mate thanks for coming on the show
9:30 -[Music]
9:31 -so Ian you've been a member of IIT stuff since since when 2004 so since the beginning yeah and how did you find out
9:38 -about the site um I was sort of got in touch with by the found member of the i
9:45 -s um he saw me posting on a different side alarm side he thought I could be an asset to the uh to the site I knew what
9:53 -I was talking about and he welcomed me on board so he went ahead and poached you then Ian he certainly did it's probably one of the best things I got out of it Ian you must post more
10:01 -information than anyone on the site I would say especially in recent times with the with the picture postings and the prize draw entries and some would
10:09 -say that you've won um most of the prize draws going so far well it works out cheaper for me to enter prize draws
10:15 -actually buy from supp but it's it's just what you think there's not a lot of people that cover my um sector which is
10:24 -alarm systems and there was a big area which could be filled now I don't mind filling I don't mind posting my information on for the simple reason is
10:32 -when you look at hands free kits which relatively got into recently um there's so much information there so to me if
10:40 -I'm taking information out then it's only fair to put information back in fact you put in so much of a service that we would like to um recognize that
10:48 -by um you becoming sir Ian Muse we'd like toite you on the forum for your name to be change forever more Charlotte if you come
10:57 -on like to thank you isan right thank you very
11:08 -much have to wear this for today and we got you a scotch lock necklace we hope that you don't actually use them on your larm fits though feel very privileged
11:16 -now because again that saved me money by coming on this side good job and we'd also like to give you a prize which is actually donated by Steel mate a brand
11:33 -carrying that extra bit of stock going around on beh of IIT staffan you're an absolute Legend and we we appreciate all that you do and and hope you carry on
11:40 -doing it thank you very much indeed sir
11:52 -cheers okay our next guest on the show is Kevin K steel mate Kevin would you like to come on how you doing you're right very well m yourself good to good
12:00 -12 minutesto see you thanks for coming on the show no problem so new products Kevin you've got something new coming out you've re reintroduced the way that these sensors
12:08 -is going to be sold that's right this year we're going to be offering um upgrade kits so for example the pts 400 will be um dropped towards the end of
12:17 -this month and we're introducing a pts 400 EX and that enables you to upgrade that kit to visuals a choice of six
12:25 -different visuals um so again we'll say to the the customer you buy the base kit and then you choose the visuals you want to keep in stock so that's fully
12:33 -upgradeable for the future which is great has new functions on it um with new 3050 ECU so you can adjust the
12:41 -constant tone distance from 30 cm to 50 okay yeah yeah great so if you got a toe bar or spare wheel on a show spare whe you can increase that distance for the
12:49 -the constant tone to start um and plus it's got uh started revised learning function on the on the top learning function so it comes with a buzzer
12:58 -standard and ready go as as a standard um Audio Only and if you want uh the option to be able to offer displays you just keep one display in stock and you
13:06 -can use it with that kit and then you can take the buzzer from that kit and and well use it for another one although I guess the new one will come with a a buzzer anyway well you can the good
13:14 -thing about the the upgrade kit is that you can actually use it with the buzzer and with four of the displays you can actually turn the display tones off on
13:23 -the visual use the visual part of it and use the external buzzer so you wanted to put the buzzer further forward to to the driver you got that ability to do that
13:31 -the ex model to actually move the buzzer away from the from the from the rear of the car and put it to the front which again there is the the time where a customer's hard a hearing I've got a
13:39 -hearing Aiden and he does need a speaker to be closer to to him I mean I've even had it right up they W literally want it right there by above where the seat belt
13:47 -is so I guess it's still given that option with having a visual display as well it's just more we just making the product more flexible this year and the
13:55 -good thing about the new ex model is it can be used as a two or a four sensor ECU so for example we don't need to stock a two censor kit anymore or you
14:04 -guys don't need to worry about a two censor kit you can use it as a two or a four it just makes it a more flexible uh Universal kit now that can be you know
14:12 -as a base kit and you can choose six types of visuals to go with the product and uh last year was it last year you introduced the color coding scheme by um
14:21 -car registration or VIN number well yeah we do um color coding service which is available we need obviously paint code from the engineer we need to have it in
14:30 -a in an email format or text format some written way because obviously you know in case the col's wrong we don't want to take responsibility for that but yeah
14:38 -we've offered a color coding service some of the engineers have been using it um you know it's there for them to use it we just want to give more service to
14:46 -the end user and to the customer to give them more flexibility where they still make brand really perfect K thanks for taking the time to come on the show and um hopefully you get the chance to watch
14:54 -the install the challenge no problem hopefully I will thanks again thanks very much bye
15:00 -15 minutes[Music]

19:01 -[Music]
19:07 -idea right okay I think everyone's going to know our next guest she's an absolute industry Legend uh de Keenan from dtech
19:14 -and noo D would you come on and join us please thanks for coming on the show no
19:23 -problem so dve most of us Engineers have spoke to you over the years um but not many of us had the chance to meet you perhaps not until the last sort of year
19:31 -or or two when we've seen you coming out to these different events yeah not not shut away anymore as we out in public with the uh the downt pr there yeah so D
19:39 -where did um where what's your work history um before armor where where did you come from um oh Lord originally actually I was in account right yeah
19:47 -which would be a big surprise I think to me my my history is back on the accounting side of things in secretarial so before I started with armor I I
19:56 -couldn't even told you what RDS meant so I mean was you an Enthusiast in cars was you ever into cars not at all I'm still not into cars at all they're all just tin
20:04 -boxes with rubber corns really and how did the armor job come about um well actually yeah quite by accident I uh I
20:12 -Was Made redundant from a job literally when we started work back after the the Christmas break um straight down to the local employment agenc and said I need
20:20 -something and I need something fast and they said oh we've got a sales job and I well I'll take it something temporary
20:26 -and uh yeah 9 years later and it was a long time there in the end so let's talk about noo um they've uh they're
20:36 -relatively new player in the the mobile phone handsfree Market um what are they offering we've got three car kits that we bring in one is a
20:57 -non-instagram system so the the button only has only just gone multipoint it's been quite an achievement so we've got multipoint and music streaming coming
21:06 -off both of the kit so there's internal amplifiers as well as the technology to do with two phones two phone books Etc so yeah I'm really pleased with them so
21:13 -far now um I say we've been seeing you a little bit at the the recent trade shows um and you were at the um Nokia ck2 200
21:22 -launch just going back last year so us LS we don't get out much us in sters and we did meet up with you at
21:30 -the Nokia T tk2 200 launch so there we go posing away looking like some count the Matrix which is very good gave me
21:38 -aapon got the camera and did you notice a group of lads watching you while you was on the quad bike in the talk um
21:45 -yeah that was good I see one of the guy fcking ear says have you seen the on the quad this
21:55 -is a group of lives turned around we're terrible aren we we don't get out much us to you guys in this industry if you yeah you don't
22:03 -join it's a good job you got a good sense of humor in it you know how to take these always cing well thanks for joining us on the sofa and GL glad to
22:12 -catch up with you look forward to the evening's events indeed Take Care thank you very much cheers
22:24 -byebye and we caught up with as earlier on so he can tell us about the new release from parot and here's the asteroid I'll let ASF tell us all about
22:31 -it hi yeah so this is the parot asteroid which launches in Q2 of this year um this how it looks and you can see it's
22:39 -it's very uh very narrow there so for us as a product what it's about is with par
22:46 -you already expect Bluetooth in the car and what you also expect now is music in the car what this is doing is taking to a different level so it's about giving
22:54 -you internet in the car and information in the car and the idea behind this it's a it's a world's first for bringing uh
23:01 -the smartphone experience to to a car driver so what this unit does in in addition to having Bluetooth connectivity and obviously iPod
23:09 -connectivity Etc as well is that it has vast rate of information available to you so if I go for example into uh the
23:18 -menu here you've got live radio well that is it's internet radio from anywhere around the world so this is a a
23:26 -pre-production model so it um but I can go into World choose music from any uh
23:34 -any continent first and then any country and if I go to say music there I
23:42 -can choose a genre music for example uh if I go to pop and then music from the 1980s for example
23:51 -press play it'll buffer for a few seconds and then using a 3G dongle it'll then stream that music uh through car
23:59 -radio and uh because it's powered by Google Android it means that you can develop apps for it so the software for this is open just like it is on a
24:06 -smartphone and in the future be able to go to the app store for for Android and download an app specifically made for this
24:17 -[Music]
24:23 -products so Paul moderator from the site for a couple years you you've been away from the industry for a little while and you you're you're kind of um back
24:30 -involved with the site at the moment putting in some good effort behind the scenes with the with the work with um the leaflets ETC and computer work am I
24:39 -well you've been helping us out for the stand anyway with that production no no yeah well it's always good to help out I mean cuz as much as you put into the site I've always said to people over the
24:46 -years and people that have been coming on to the onto the stand today uh you know as much as you put in you'll always get more than that back out to whether it's information it's speeding you up on
24:55 -your installs every day even if it's something you already know how to do you know on a car you know off by heart take a look at the site you just see how people do things a bit differently and
25:03 -you know even if it's rooting a cable finding a different wiring connection just speeding you up on jobs and then the subcontract work as well um as as of
25:11 -a few years ago I think the I still haven't paid back the site for the amount of work I've had from it you know for over the years um and when you need to job covering you you always get your
25:20 -an straight away someone's always there to help you and it's great days out like this as well so and whenever anything comes along you're always more than willing to help out with it whether it's
25:28 -organization putting some hours into the site and it's much appreciated Paul you're a true gent yeah thank
25:39 -[Music]
25:55 -[Applause]
25:57 -you
25:59 -[Music]
26:07 -some of the Forum and moderators a half
26:13 -in go like a half in half in pan head uh flang or pan
26:27 -head I fix

26:34 -off
