At Sussex Installations we are very happy to offer van security advice to all van owners and carry out great quality installations for them at our workshop in Eastbourne or mobile in the South East of England (including London). As many of you know; we put allot of effort into our YouTube channel and last week we had a special visit for a fellow YouTuber who has a great following in the UK and that was none other than Thomas Nagy (also known as @TomtheSpark). Tom got in touch with us after he was recommended to us by some of our other followers on social media as he had an issue with a lock that he had fitted to his van that had turned out not to be what he had thought and it needed changing. Unfortunately the holes in the van doors left from the existing lock were still in place and so we also had to blank them off to fit an alternative lock, but we took care of that along with fitting extra locks to the load area, cab door dead locks and high position side load door (high position) switches that we connected to the factory alarm system. I hope you enjoy the video that we made while Tom was here and please check him out on social media (if you do not already follow him!) Please visit our website http
Historical context: This video records the advice, products and attack methods relevant when it was published. Current recommendations may have changed as vehicles, products and criminal methods evolved.
Tom had fitted a lock himself that turned out not to be what he'd thought it was, so it needed changing for something more suitable. He got in touch with us after other followers on social media recommended he speak to us.
Not in Tom's case. The holes left in the van doors from the existing lock were still there, so before we could fit the alternative lock we had to blank those holes off properly rather than just working around them.
Alongside changing the lock, we fitted extra locks to the load area, cab door deadlocks, and high position side load door switches that we connected into his factory alarm system, giving him a more complete layered setup than the single lock he'd started with.
