Jeff Scott's retrospective context — 2026

This Peugeot Boxer combined several different product families in one job: deadlocks on the front doors, reinforced slam handles on the rear doors, the newer-style Ultimate lock on the rear and side load door, and a Catloc on the catalytic converter — all keyed alike so the customer only carries one key for every door. The slam handles replaced the original vulnerable plastic handle that thieves could snap off to reach inside and open the door, with a reinforced metal handle fitted both outside and inside the door.

Original description

This Peugeot Boxer van was fitted out with a combination of security products to give the customer the optimum security to suit his needs. This included Locks 4 Vans Deadlocks for the front doors and Slam Handles for the rear doors (these were keyed alike so that the same key fits all the doors). In addition we fitted the new style Locks 4 Vans ultimate locks to the rear and the side load door of the van and also a Catloc (Catalytic Converter protector).

Check out the gallery page on our website for this installation and also the other security products that we have, to help to keep your van secure.

Common questions

Why fit deadlocks, slam handles, an Ultimate lock and a Catloc all to the same van?

Each addressed a different door or a different weak point: deadlocks for the front doors, reinforced slam handles replacing the vulnerable plastic handle on the rear doors, the Ultimate lock on the rear and side load door, and a Catloc protecting the catalytic converter — all keyed alike (except for the Ultimate locks) so the customer only needs one key.

Are slam handles or deadlocks the best protection for this van?

The answer to this changes over time depending on the break in methods that exist, back in 2015 thieves would break into vans by ripping the handles off, so Slamhandles would have been better then. But now in 2026 thieves make holes through the door and attack the latch directly and so deadlocks would be better than slamhandles now as they offer an additional layer of security after the factory locking has been bypassed.

How does the Catloc stop a catalytic converter being cut off in seconds?

It's a reinforced steel bracket fitted around the converter using a shear nut. Once tightened, the nut snaps off completely, leaving nothing for a thief to grip and undo, unlike an unprotected converter that can be cut free in moments.

0:01 -hi I'm Jeff Scott from Sussex
0:02 -installations and I'm going to show you
0:04 -this Ultimate Security package we've
0:05 -been fitting to this Peugeot Boxer, we've used
0:08 -a combination of different types of
0:09 -security locks, the front doors have the
0:11 -deadlocks, so if you're not familiar with
0:13 -the deadlock you simply turn your key in
0:15 -the lock and if someone tries to open
0:17 -the door it just opens a few millimeters
0:19 -and then the deadlock has it in place,
0:22 -and then just take out the key and
0:24 -you can take the deadlock off, so it's a
0:26 -bit like your home kind of mortise lock,
0:28 -but obviously specifically designed
0:31 -for the vehicles, on the back
0:33 -door and actually the load area, both the
0:35 -back door and the side load door here
0:38 -we've used a combination of our slam
0:41 -handles which are here, and also the new
0:46 -style Ultimate Security Lock which is
0:48 -here, so at the moment if I have the
0:50 -Ultimate Security
0:53 -Lock in the unlocked
0:56 -position then what the customer will do
0:58 -is just use the slam handle instead
1:00 -of using the old vulnerable plastic
1:02 -handle that thieves just break off and
1:03 -reach inside your door and open up
1:06 -your door, we fitted this reinforced
1:08 -metal handle, and inside the door there's
1:11 -a nice reinforced metal handle as well,
1:13 -we use our slam locks to then twist and
1:17 -simply pop the door open, now that
1:19 -ultimate lock was in the unlocked
1:21 -position already so you don't need to be,
1:23 -you can have it as a slam lock or a
1:25 -deadlock, this one is fitted as a
1:27 -deadlock, so it doesn't automatically lock,
1:30 -so you can just use the van with the
1:34 -one key, if you're in a situation where
1:36 -you want additional security just turn
1:38 -the ultimate
1:40 -lock into the lock
1:43 -position, then if someone actually goes
1:46 -past
1:47 -the slam handle that we fitted, the
1:50 -door will just open a few millimeters
1:51 -and I'll just demonstrate that now for
1:52 -you, so the ultimate lock is now
1:55 -on, and it just opens a few millimeters
1:58 -and now the ultimate lock is
2:01 -holding the door in place, so if you
2:03 -would like some security systems for
2:05 -your vehicle get in touch by the website
2:07 -which is www.sussexinstallations.co.uk and
2:10 -I'll just also show you the Catloc we
2:11 -fitted to this as
2:14 -well, which is there, so that's a
2:18 -reinforced steel bracket around the
2:20 -catalytic converter and it's got the shear
2:22 -nut, so once it's tightened up the shear
2:23 -nuts are broken off, which makes it, you
2:25 -know, pretty difficult to get off, a hell
2:27 -of a lot more difficult than what it is at
2:29 -the moment, because they're under there and
2:30 -snipping them off in literally a few
2:31 -seconds, so thanks again for watching and
2:33 -get in touch by the website www.sussexinstallations
2:36 -co.uk
