Original description

This is a demonstration of the different security products that we have fitted to make up our Ford Transit Custom Platinum Package to help secure your Ford Custom van from being broken into and having your tools / cargo stolen. Find out more about this package on our website https://www.sussexinstallations.co.uk... Music by Bensound.com Subscribe to both our YouTube channel and website newsletter to keep up to date with van security products and advice; as things are constantly changing as we respond and adapt to new attack techniques as we see them. Note: Our electrical modification functionality may vary depending on what body control module is fitted to your van and which version software has been programmed by Ford. Whilst we take great care in selecting products and techniques that we believe are effective to increase your van's security, we can never guarantee that any van is safe from a break in, please see our website for full terms and conditions. Jeff Scott from Sussex Installations demonstrates a comprehensive security upgrade for the Ford Transit Custom. The platinum package includes replacing vulnerable door barrels with secure slip-ring models, installing electrical modifications to protect factory alarms, and adding internal PIR sensors alongside high-position hook deadlocks to prevent unauthorized entry and door-folding attacks. Summary

Historical context: This video records the advice, products and attack methods relevant when it was published. Current recommendations may have changed as vehicles, products and criminal methods evolved.

Common questions

What does the "electrical modification" in the Platinum Package actually protect against?

It stops the factory alarm being disarmed if someone forces the driver's door barrel in future, or if they access the unlock wire in the door wiring loom and ground it — closing a vulnerability that affected many Ford Customs manufactured before the 2018 facelift.

Why are the extra deadlocks fitted high up on the door in this package?

Because the manufacturer's own locking point is low down on the door, which Jeff found made these vans susceptible to door-folding (peel and steal) attacks, so fitting the deadlock high up gives a second, independent securing point where the door is most likely to be pulled open.

How does the PIR and high-level door switch work together in this package?

The PIR fitted on the bulkhead detects any movement inside the load area, such as if someone cuts through the roof or side, while the high-level switch on the door triggers the factory alarm the moment the door starts being pulled from the top, rather than waiting for the additional damage to be caused by thieves pulling the side load door out far enough for the PIR to trigger the factory alarm.

0:00 -hi I'm Jeff Scott from Sussex
0:01 -installations and I'm showing you this
0:03 -Ford Custom Platinum package that we've
0:05 -done here so first off we're changing
0:07 -this drive's door Barrel because this
0:08 -Barrel is an absolute nuisance people
0:10 -going around with the grips undoing this
0:12 -which is unlocking the van unlocking the
0:15 -front unlocking the load area or forcing
0:17 -it with a screwdriver same problem so
0:19 -that's a real big problem so we're
0:20 -changing that and this is our um High
0:23 -secure Barrel but it's got a slip ring
0:25 -so it's difficult to grip this bezel in
0:27 -the first place and also if they do
0:28 -manage to grip it and twist it it's it
0:30 -slips independently so it's not even
0:32 -going to turn the middle part so that's
0:34 -the first part of the package secondly
0:36 -we've done electrical modification from
0:38 -with inside the vehicle so if somebody
0:40 -manages to get past this lock in the
0:42 -future to pick it in years to come to
0:44 -pull this this Barrel out with some sort
0:46 -of high level destruction attack or if
0:48 -they're going to go in on the wiring
0:50 -loom that joins the the van door to the
0:52 -body and somehow get that that vehicle
0:55 -like that unlock wire grounded they're
0:56 -not going to unlock this van because
0:58 -we've done our electrical mod ification
1:00 -from with inside the vehicle um what
1:02 -that also does as well is improves the
1:05 -security of the alarm because some of
1:06 -these are actually disarming with this
1:08 -Barrel so if this Barrel is being forced
1:10 -it's actually turning off the alarm on
1:11 -some customs some it is some it isn't
1:14 -but our electrical modification is
1:15 -stopping that factory alarm from being
1:17 -disarmed from that Barrel or by access
1:20 -to that that unlocked wire wherever else
1:22 -it may be other than that we've also
1:25 -done further alarm upgrades we've
1:27 -actually fitted sensors inside the back
1:28 -of this band we fit the P sensor inside
1:31 -the van and we've also put a high Lev
1:33 -switch so if someone was to start to
1:34 -pull this door open from the top our
1:37 -switch is going to set the factory alarm
1:38 -off and we fitted a sensor inside so if
1:40 -they manage to get in even if they cut a
1:42 -hole through the roof then it would set
1:44 -the alarm off I've got someone waiting
1:45 -very still inside the van for
1:47 -demonstration Danny can you move
1:50 -around so there we go I better let him
1:55 -out now so unlock
1:58 -unlock he come out there thank you for
2:00 -your help um and that PR I just show you
2:04 -that it's here so it's on the bulk head
2:08 -and that is detecting movement from
2:10 -within the actual load area of this van
2:13 -so any movement anyone gets into the
2:14 -load area of the van that P is detecting
2:17 -them and we've also this is the
2:19 -switch which is up the top here so at
2:24 -the top of the door so the Factory The
2:26 -Factory switch is way down low and if
2:28 -someone is doing like a door folding
2:29 -attack that factory switch is just not
2:31 -picking it up so the alarm's not going
2:33 -off but our switch is right up the top
2:35 -there high so if someone start to pull
2:38 -that door from the top then the factory
2:40 -alarm will go off and then hopefully
2:41 -that means that they're going to
2:43 -hopefully stop pulling the door down and
2:44 -causing all that damage and then last
2:47 -but not least we fitt some manual
2:48 -Deadlocks so these Deadlocks if you put
2:50 -the lock on it's an extra lock which
2:54 -goes on which is not controlled by the
2:56 -electronics of the vehicle so this is
2:57 -adding an extra mechanical layer of
2:59 -security so if somebody does manage to
3:02 -get the doors unlocked somehow even
3:04 -though we're going into all that trouble
3:05 -now to keep the manufacturers locked
3:07 -locked it's an extra layer of security
3:09 -so it just allows the door to open just
3:11 -a millimeter or so and that's it and and
3:13 -this is actually like the hook type lock
3:15 -which we fitted on this one so making it
3:18 -um more resistive to like a crowbar
3:19 -style attack by having that hook lock
3:22 -and I'll demonstrate that to you in a
3:23 -second now the other thing you might
3:25 -notice is the position of this lock this
3:27 -lock we fitted this in a high position
3:29 -and the reason for that is because the
3:31 -manufacturer's connection point the
3:33 -lockin point is down low on this van
3:36 -down here it does seem that they're
3:38 -susceptible to Door folding style of
3:40 -breakings of Peel and steel attack so by
3:43 -putting our locks up high we're getting
3:45 -also a a securing point up high on the
3:47 -door so if we help to keep the
3:49 -manufacturers locked locked by doing
3:51 -that stuff on the front door on the
3:53 -driver's door changing the barrel doing
3:55 -electronic modification and then what
3:58 -we're doing is then having that extra
4:00 -securing point up high on the door and
4:02 -the same for the rear barn doors
4:04 -obviously if your van is a glazed van
4:06 -then you're not going to be able to have
4:08 -this as an option but if I just put the
4:10 -key in here and show you this
4:12 -one lock it so if it goes the door opens
4:16 -it just goes a couple of millimeters and
4:17 -that's it and I'll show you the what we
4:19 -fitted just inside the
4:21 -door this is a hook bolt as well so
4:24 -we've got a bracket on the inside of the
4:26 -the van there which is going to be
4:28 -difficult to get at and it being that
4:31 -hook hook style lock means that it grips
4:34 -into the bracket which we fit on the Upp
4:36 -door which makes it nice and secure so
4:38 -if you're looking for a that's our
4:40 -Platinum package if you're looking for
4:42 -security for your for custom get in
4:44 -touch by the website it's www.sex
4:46 -installation. co.uk um if you don't have
4:49 -a factory alarm system on your van then
4:51 -you would also need an alarm so this
4:53 -package is to go to the manufacturer's
4:55 -alarm system and add in our extra
4:58 -physical security lock you'll be able to
5:00 -tell if your van has an alarm first off
5:03 -your custom if it's got these sensors on
5:05 -the interior light
5:07 -here if it's got these here then you
5:10 -probably have got an alarm but the test
5:12 -to do really is going to lock double
5:16 -lock lights are flash for 1 minute and
5:19 -just to check to make sure that the
5:21 -alarm has had sufficient enough time to
5:23 -set on the vehicle so it's no point in
5:25 -just trying it straight away now just
5:27 -wait for 1 minute and then we'll be able
5:30 -to to check it out and see what
5:36 -happens okay so 1 minute's pass and
5:39 -let's try so we actually know that this
5:41 -alarm this vehicle does have an alarm
5:43 -and it is active we have waited long
5:44 -enough and we have done a fair test on
5:46 -this I'm going to open up the Bonnet
5:48 -which should set the alarm off because
5:50 -we're not disarming it straight away
5:51 -from that driver's door barrel and I'm
5:53 -not going to touch the buttons on the
5:54 -remote control so if I just turn the key
5:56 -but we can help talk you through it
5:57 -anyway so again website address www.six
6:01 -installations do.uk thanks for watching
