This Citroen Nemo had been attacked with a screwdriver forced in underneath the handle on the rear barn door — a small hole, but enough to reach the mechanism and get the door open. The repair used our Pro Plate across the handle to cover the visual damage, with rust treatment applied and the metalwork behind straightened before a silicone seal kept the repair weatherproof, alongside deadlocks fitted to both the barn door and the side load door.
Rather than take this van to the body shop and pay a two hundred and fifty pound excess claim on the insurance, you can use a Pro Plate, repair the damage and then fit some security products to secure it up.
That combination — repair and reinforcement in the same job — is one of the ideas I still build products around today. A customer with attack damage does not really have two separate problems needing two separate solutions; a well-designed plate can cover the damage, restore a weatherproof seal and add a genuinely stronger locking point all at once, for less than the cost of a bodyshop excess alone.
Here we see a Citroen Nemo Van that has been broken into by a screwdriver attack on the rear barn door. Jeff Scott from Sussex Installations shows how they secured the van and repaired the damage by fitting Deadlocks and Protection Plates.

Subscribe to both our YouTube channel and website newsletter to keep up to date with van security products and advice; as things are constantly changing as we respond and adapt to new attack techniques as we see them.
Note: Whilst we take great care in selecting products and techniques that we believe are effective to increase your van's security, we can never guarantee that any van is safe from a break in, please see our website for full terms and conditions.
A screwdriver was forced in underneath the door handle on the rear barn door, making a small hole that was enough to reach the mechanism and open the door.
A body shop repair alone still leaves the same vulnerability in place, and typically comes with an insurance excess of around £250. A Pro Plate covers the visual damage, restores a weatherproof seal after rust treatment, and adds a genuinely stronger locking point, all in one job.
Yes. Even if the original locking is bypassed, the door only opens a few millimetres before the deadlock holds it in place, on both the barn door and the side load door.
