Customers Cross Countries and Continents to Visit Us

From California to Eastbourne—and from across mainland Europe—van and motorhome owners have included Sussex Installations in their journey to have specialist security fitted before travelling onward.

Customers already travel across the UK for specialist van security at our Eastbourne workshop. Some come from considerably further afield.

From California to Eastbourne, then on to Europe

This customer brought his 4WD Mercedes Sprinter motorhome from California in the United States to our Eastbourne workshop. We fitted additional security before the vehicle continued its journey into Europe.

For an international touring motorhome, the vehicle carries more than luggage: it often becomes the owner's home while on the road. Adding suitable security before continuing through Europe provided another important layer of protection.

Two stunning 4WD Sprinter motorhomes from France

These customers travelled from France with two specialist 4WD Mercedes Sprinter motorhomes. The vehicles and their owners visited our Eastbourne workshop for security work before continuing their travels.

Specialist vehicles deserve carefully considered security. A workshop appointment allows us to inspect the vehicle, understand how it is used and carry out the agreed work in a controlled environment.

From Italy for specialist motorhome locks

The owner of this Mercedes Sprinter Hymer motorhome travelled all the way from Italy to our Eastbourne workshop to have security locks professionally fitted.

The diary records other international motorhome and camper appointments, but this photograph gives a particularly clear example: the vehicle, its owner and the Sussex Installations workshop together.

Tom returned from Belgium with a Burstner Campeo 4x4

Tom visited our Eastbourne workshop from Mechelen, Belgium, in June 2023 with his new Burstner Campeo C540 4x4 motorhome.

Our historical records suggest this may have been Tom's third visit to Sussex Installations over the years—an especially meaningful example of an international customer choosing to return when he changed or upgraded his vehicle.

The 2023 Campeo is a compact four-wheel-drive touring motorhome. As with every specialist or international vehicle, the agreed security work was assessed for the exact model and configuration before fitting.

Seon travelled from Austria in his Sprinter camper

Seon visited our Eastbourne workshop from Austria in June 2023 with his 2015 Mercedes Sprinter camper conversion.

Our team fitted deadlocks and protective ProPlates to the cab door, offside loading door and rear barn doors, creating coordinated protection across the principal access points.

Camper conversions often carry the equipment and personal possessions needed for extended travel. Assessing the exact door layout at the workshop allowed the mechanical security to be planned around this particular conversion.

★★★★★“I live in Europe and have a left-hand-drive Transit. Most of my family still live in the UK, so I took the opportunity to stop off in Eastbourne to have my van made secure before moving on to other parts of the UK. I wasn't sure if having a left-hand-drive would be a problem, but Sussex Installations assured me everything would be OK… It would also seem that the security work has already paid for itself. While visiting the Grand Union Canal near Milton Keynes, I later discovered someone had used a disc cutter to cut the cable holding my spare wheel in place under the vehicle. I believe that if it wasn't for the security features fitted to my van, the thief would have gained access to the inside and stolen the bike I had in the back.”

★★★★★“Came all the way from Spain, to get my van done by professionals. Even gave me a room to rest up after the long drive… So thank you to Jeff, Danny, Charlotte and boy genius Matt who was there to the very end making sure I was all set before I left for return trip to Spain.”

Countries are included only where supported by a workshop photograph, historical booking record or customer account. A country reference does not imply that every appointment involved the customer driving directly from that country solely for the installation.

Your vehicle may also be your home

Motorhomes and camper conversions can contain personal possessions, travel documents, electronics, sports equipment and everything needed for an extended trip. Security should be considered around the particular vehicle, its doors, existing locking system and intended use.

  • Vehicle-specific deadlocks or hook locks where suitable
  • Protection for vulnerable handles, latches and door areas
  • OBD and electronic-security options where applicable
  • A coordinated installation before onward travel

Arranging an international visit

Can you confirm compatibility before I travel?

We will need the vehicle make, exact model, year, body style, door configuration and clear photographs. A registration or VIN may also be requested. Compatibility must be confirmed before an international journey is planned.

Do you work on left-hand-drive vehicles?

We have previously worked on left-hand-drive vans, but specifications can differ between markets. Send complete vehicle details and photographs so the proposed work can be assessed first.

Can everything be completed in one appointment?

We will explain the anticipated fitting time when quoting. Complex or unusual vehicles may require further assessment, product preparation or more than one day, so do not plan onward travel until the appointment scope has been confirmed.

How much does it cost to have van deadlocks fitted?

A single deadlock fitted starts at £141+VAT, or as little as £133+VAT per lock when having 4 deadlocks fitted together. These are our standard Eastbourne workshop prices and apply whether you're travelling from within the UK or from abroad; they don't include your own travel or accommodation costs getting to us.

Does having van deadlocks fitted invalidate my van's warranty?

It's important that the installer carries out a thorough clean-down and rust prevention process when fitting van deadlocks, to avoid corrosion. Whilst it's possible that a manufacturer could question a related warranty issue, such as corrosion near a deadlock, we have fitted over 23,000 deadlocks and slamlocks over two decades and have never had a single customer report a warranty problem as a result of us fitting deadlocks to their van.

Can you provide documents for the work?

Ask our team what invoice and product information can be provided for your installation. If you require specific documents for an insurer, border authority or another organisation, tell us before booking.

How should I contact you from outside the UK?
